Les Mémoires
Danie Badenhorst Mr August 16, 2014

I finally realised why I hate golf so much, it is because you are no longer around to go with us on Saturday mornings like we used to. I remember how we went to play golf every Saturday morning at the Machie in Emmerantia. my best memory of this is how we always used to get upset when we moaned because the people in front of us took so long, you would moan at us and say "Los hulle, hulle het ook betaal" that just demonstrates what a great man you were.

I also remember going with you and your friends, uncle Pat, and uncle Roly on Sundays and I would caddy for you. they called you "Cappy" and you played for 50 cents. I remember the lunch after the first nine holes (Pie, chips and gravy) I am sure you are all together again now that they too are no longer with us.

I cried when you passed away. I cry today still. Although I loved you dearly, I couldn't make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke my heart to prove to me he only takes the best.

I thought of you today, but that is nothing new. I thought about you yesterday and days before that too. I think of you in silence, I often speak your name. All I have is memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake in which I'll never part. God has you in his keeping, I have you in my heart.

·        If roses grow in heaven, Lord, then pick a bunch for me. Place them in my Dad's arms and tell him ...they're from me. Tell him that I love and miss him; and when he turns to smile, place a kiss upon his cheek and hold him for a while. Love you Dad...

The things my father said would make me a better man
Hard work and the love of friends, a woman that understands
I hope my father knows the seeds we've sewn still grow
At night I go to sleep and pray he's watching over me
Sometimes I remember, when you taught me to tie my shoes
One thing I will never forget, is the day that I lost you
I hope you always know the car that we built will always roll
And if you have a dream you better hang on for dear life
And when that cold wind blows, just let it pass you by
The things my father said
Somewhere there's a star that's shining
So bright that I can see you smile
And all that I need is one last chance
Just to hear you say goodbye
